The Education Committee is pleased to announce that we have adopted a fabulous, easy-to-use book as the standard for Diocesan Lay Leader training. The book – Christian Foundations, by Judy and Patrick Paulsen & Susan Bell from Wycliffe College – covers all the essential topics of scripture, theology, and church history in a way that is interesting and fun to read.

Any minister could lead the 9-part course in their own parish, but it’s especially exciting when deaneries can come together on Zoom to have people from different communities learning and sharing together.

Among the many goals of the Education Committee would be creating a “Tools for Lay Leaders” section of the website with short videos to help lay leaders feel confident in leading the services, as well as checklists for planning funerals or preparing candidates for Confirmation.
