As we take stock of where we are as a Diocese, there has been a renewed emphasis put on record-keeping this year. “We all know the pandemic was hard on churches, so it’s important for us to get an accurate picture of where we are” says Jenn Royal, the new Compliance Officer working alongside Archdeacon Pryor at our office.

One very encouraging – and even surprising – fact that we’ve come to realize is that vestries and church committees are younger than ever! For any number of reasons, it seems involvement in church leadership has skipped a generation, but we’re so encouraged by this development. “Grandparents are coming off vestry committees after many years, even decades, but are being replaced by their grandchildren’s generation!” says Archdeacon Pryor.

This raises the bar for urgent training. Thanks to improved internet access, we began this long road with 4 weeks of Vestry and Treasurer training this February and March!
