The Diocese of The Arctic was well represented at General Synod 2023, speaking the truth and taking up the work of calling the national church to remember what it means to be a Christian in the Anglican tradition. Bishop David Parsons said “As Anglicans, the majority of our denomination is solid. The Diocese of the Arctic is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. People fail to remember that the revisionists in Canada and the USA are the minority in the Anglican Communion. They just have a loud voice and often use that voice to monopolize, or bully. It seems to me that the revisionists do not love the word of God, nor do they receive it as the bread of life, and so rather than living under the authority of Jesus Christ, and His word, they choose to be an authority unto themselves.”
For the Diocese of The Arctic, this means that we find ourselves in the Anglican Church of Canada, but not of it. Though we are not rich or politically mighty, we are faithful. While others who claim the “Anglican” name have departed from the Book of Common Prayer and our Christian teachings, we remain the true Anglican Church of Canada. “The revisionists need to ask themselves how can they in all honesty say that they are still the Anglican Church of Canada when they constantly stand in opposition to the unchanged doctrines and canons of the Anglican Church of Canada”, yet they claim to speak on behalf of the Anglican Church.
