Five regional cohorts studying across the Arctic this Fall!

“This is absolutely incredible” says Bishop Joey Royal, Principle of the Arthur Turner Training School. “We knew there were a lot of people willing to be trained, but the speed at which our new Lay Leaders’ and Deacons ‘Training Program has expanded is more than we ever imagined”.
In January, ATTS piloted a new model of education based on a trade-school approach to mastering practical skills rather than taking a certain number of classes to graduate. “It’s really personalized”, says Archdeacon Alexander Pryor, “it means some students are now entering Module 3, and they are still working on a skill from their first module, and that’s perfectly ok! We want them to be well-trained, it’s not about finishing a course in a certain number of weeks and then moving on”.
The program began with cohorts (groups of students studying together) in Iqaluit and the Western Arctic. In the first week of October, that expanded to 5 cohorts: Iqaluit, Western Arctic, Kivalliq, Delta Region, and ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ, allowing students to study completely in Inuktitut with the Rev. Ann Martha Keenainak as their instructor. Thank you for your prayer and financial support as we train and equip Northerners for ministry across the North!
