Arctic Fellowships held in Florida and Vancouver Island
Bishop Joey Royal and Archdeacon Alexander Pryor attended events and shared about the work of the Diocese of The Arctic in 3 different cities in central Florida, USA. Bishop David Parsons held an Arctic Fellowship on Vancouver Island with Rev. Geoff and Rosalind Dixon (ret.)Welcome to our new supporters for whom this is their first Arctic News!

Dean Chris Dow and Family moving to Ontario
After some particular hardships – including two home invasions and their personal vehicle being torched – the Dow family are relocating to Ontario. Chris will remain connected to the diocese, and will be particularly wellpositioned to help with recruitment of clergy and recent theological college graduates. Pray for the Dows, especially Amy and the children, as they make this transition.
City of Iqaluit makes unprecedented move to tax church building
Facing a budget crisis and (according to his social media posts) wanting to take punitive action against churches for the history of residential schools, the former mayor of Iqaluit proposed a bylaw to tax churches, which is in effect at least for the current tax year. Ironically, this amount (over $30,000) must now be paid by the local, primarily Inuit population who make up the congregation’s membership – many of whom are elders who lived through the history of residential schools. Join us in prayer for wisdom.
Position open for new Finance Officer
With Alex Mulooki and Michelle Lucas both faithfully working the finance desk at the office for the past several years (alongside other jobs in the marketplace), we are now looking to hire a full-time accountant to be on staff at the diocesan office. We’re trusting God to provide someone who is a financial expert and also understands the ministry of stewardship to be a Christian vocation. Join us in prayer for God’s provision.
Sabbattical Grants awarded
The Rev. Jared Osborn and Bishop Joey Royal have both been awarded Sabbattical Grants from the national Continuing Education Plan. Both have served many years without a sabbattical. Jared and family will visit Ireland on a pilgrimage centered around the life of St. Patrick (and will fit in some networking there too!), while Bishop Joey is under contract to finish a new book about worship and liturgy.
